Shrek, Oh Shrek

Not sure if you have heard about our 2nd child Shrek. Well about a 3 months ago we noticed Shrek was acting funny. He wasn't using the bathroom and was throwing up every time after eating. In his vomit we noticed these little chunks of rubber coming up. We took him to the vet for some testing and come to find out Shrek had eaten a tennis ball! Yes, an entire tennis ball. He got pretty close to going under surgery to extract the blockage but the vet wanted to try one last thing. They gave him some medicine to relax his stomach and thank god, because he bypassed the rest of the tennis ball. We were hoping our dog had taught himself a valuable lesson but.........NO he didn't. (Side note: On average if I give him a tennis ball he demolishes it in 4 minutes.) Well Shrek's birthday was this month "June". He decided to give us a present this year. On a Thursday morning we woke up to 7 piles of diarrhea and one giant pile of throw up in our house. As I'm getting paper towels to start cleaning I hear Aiden yelling, "MY SILLY BANDS, AND MY BASKETBALL!" This time in his vomit was a wad of app. 15 Silly Bands, and a rubber basketball a little smaller than a baseball. We again monitored him for a few days. About 3 days in we woke up to a foul smell and he was in his cage laying all in crap. You could tell he was in some pain and was bleeding out his back end. We immediately took him to his vet and they sent Ashley to an emergency surgery clinic to once again have an extraction. Also once again they are trying to postpone the surgery and gave us the medicine to relax his stomach. He still is having extreme diarrhea but is acting a little better. The bleeding has stopped for the most part. Now it is a waiting game to see if he can get the rest of the blockage out. Hopefully he'll get better. Keep Shrek in your prayers.
