So I'm sure your all aware of the storm we got hit with this past weekend. Saturday I had to work and was at my Office Depot store when it hit. My store manager was out this week so I was in full control. The storm came up pretty quick. I had a few employees on different computers watching the news. I had a couple more out front keeping an eye on whats happening. At one point there were huge 6 X 8 ft. sheets of insulation flying about 100 ft. over our parking lot. With the look and sound of things we thought a tornado was coming up behind our store. I had a few family's inside my store at the time. When the power went out I moved everyone to the girls bathroom (safest place in the building) with flash lights. We never did have any big damage to the store. Just a bit of flooding. Never did find out if a tornado was near/over us. There wasn't any real damage on that side of town so I'm guessing just strong winds. It definitely was an adrenaline rush. At the same time I was on the phone with Ashley back at our apartment with Aiden and Shrek. It started hailing pretty bad there and the wind picked up pretty strong at one point. When the power died at the house Ashley and Aiden ran and got in the tub under blankets. Ashley tried to get Shrek to come with them but with all the noise he got scared and wouldn't come out of his cage. Luckily we didn't have any real bad damage where we live either.
On Monday I went and played golf in Wake Forest with Papa and drove by one of the worst spots in Wake Forest. I couldn't believe my eyes. I've never seen anything like it in real life. It looked like an episode of Storm Chasers on TV. I brought Ashley and Aiden there to see what could have happened. Ashley took some pictures on her phone. This area of Wake Forest is about 10 minutes away from where we live. It's only a mile and a half from my parents house. Come to find out later on the news, this wasn't the worst area of damage. There was another tornado that came right through downtown Raleigh that caused quite a bit more damage. Here are the pictures.
